Ingredients
  

  • 8 hot dogs (beef, chicken, or turkey)
  • 1 sheet refrigerated puff pastry or crescent dough (gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for 'blood' or 'nails')
  • Sliced almonds (optional, for fingernails)
  • Black sesame seeds (optional, for knuckle dots)

Instructions
 

  • Cut a small oval at one end of each hot dog to form the nail bed. Score 2–3 lines across the hot dog for knuckles. Optional: boil for 2–3 minutes for better texture.
  • Roll out puff pastry and cut into thin strips (about ½ inch wide). Wrap around each hot dog, leaving the nail bed exposed. Tuck ends underneath.
  • Place an almond slice on the exposed tip for the fingernail. Brush pastry with egg wash. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  • Drizzle ketchup or mustard around the cuticles for 'blood.' Serve warm with extra dip.

Notes

Score the hot dogs for realistic knuckle lines, and don’t skip the almond slice fingernails for extra creepiness. Gluten-free or vegan? Use alternative hot dogs and dough it works beautifully!
