  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey, if preferred) Ground turkey can be used as a healthier alternative.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (fresh or frozen) Feel free to use any vegetables you prefer.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar works best) Cheddar cheese is recommended for best flavor.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 package frozen tater tots (about 32 ounces) For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free tater tots.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary. Add the diced onion and cook until softened.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cooked meat and onion with the mixed vegetables, shredded cheese, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  • Spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly in a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Top with an even layer of frozen tater tots.
  • Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize with additional ingredients such as bell peppers or mushrooms. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
