Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • knife for trimming asparagus
  • vegetable peeler optional, for thick asparagus
  • oven

Ingredients

  • 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
  • 6–8 oz thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • lemon zest or balsamic glaze (optional, for garnish)
  • shaved parmesan (optional)
  • garlic powder or crushed red pepper (optional)
  • drizzle of honey (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and trim the woody ends from each asparagus spear. If spears are thick, peel the bottom half for a more tender texture.
  • Wrap one slice of prosciutto tightly at an angle around each asparagus spear, overlapping slightly. Cut slices in half lengthwise if too large.
  • Place wrapped spears on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper.
  • Roast in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10–15 minutes, turning once, until prosciutto is crispy and asparagus is tender.
  • Garnish with lemon zest or a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Serve immediately as an appetizer or side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, try shaving parmesan on top, sprinkling garlic powder, or adding a drizzle of honey before roasting. For a party-ready version, cut asparagus in half and serve skewered. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure crispiness. Best served hot from the oven.
