Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs room temperature

Instructions

Preparation

  • Activate the yeast by combining the milk and yeast in a small bowl. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs.
  • Stir until the mixture comes together. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  • After the rise, punch down the dough and roll it into a large circle.
  • Cut the dough into wedges like a pizza, rolling each wedge from the wide end to the tip to form crescent shapes.
  • Place rolled crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Allow the dough to rise adequately for fluffy rolls. You can experiment with flavors by adding savory or sweet elements.
