Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Cook Time 30 minutes mins
- 1 pound ground chicken (lean)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional toppings: bell peppers, sliced mushrooms, red onion, spinach, artichoke hearts, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, cooked ham, turkey pepperoni, plant-based sausage, goat cheese, fresh basil, oregano, red pepper flakes
1. Prepare the mixture: Combine the ground chicken, grated Parmesan, and one large egg in a large bowl. Add the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix these ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
2. Shape the base: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the meat mixture onto the paper. Press it evenly into a circular shape, about 1/4 inch thick, resembling a traditional pizza base.
3. Pre-bake the base: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the chicken base for 15-20 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and firm. This pre-baking step is crucial for a sturdy foundation.
4. Add toppings and final bake: Remove the pre-baked base from the oven. Spread the marinara sauce over the surface. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and your preferred toppings. Return it to the oven for another 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese melts and bubbles.
