  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Cream Filling and Glaze

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (use dairy-free chips for a vegan option)

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together to ensure they are well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, applesauce, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep your donuts tender.
  • Preheat your air fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions, generally around 350°F (175°C).
  • Using a spoon or piping bag, fill your donut molds halfway with the batter.
  • Air fry the donuts for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • While donuts are cooling, prepare the cream filling by whipping the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fill the cooled donuts with the whipped cream using a piping bag or filling tip.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Dip the tops of the filled donuts into the melted chocolate.
