Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups gluten-free flour blend Ensure it's a 1:1 baking blend
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Or halal butter substitute, kept cold
  • ¾ cup milk Any plant-based milk can be used for a dairy-free option

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the dry mixture. Work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour in the milk gradually, stirring gently until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
  • On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and press it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut out pieces using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  • Arrange the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For best texture, use cold ingredients. Keep butter and milk chilled. Handle the dough gently to avoid dense biscuits. Variations include herb and cheese biscuits or sweet cinnamon biscuits.
