Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries Use straight from the freezer if frozen.
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar Plus a pinch for the berries.
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

For the topping

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter Softened.
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: a small pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preheat and prep

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a 6-oz to 8-oz ramekin with a little butter.

Prepare the filling

  • In a small bowl, toss the blueberries with 1 tablespoon flour, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and the lemon juice.
  • Spoon the berry mixture into the prepared ramekin, spreading it to an even layer.

Make the topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine 3 tablespoons flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the softened butter with a fork or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the milk (and a drop of vanilla if using) until a slightly thick batter forms.

Assemble and bake

  • Spoon the topping over the berries, covering most of the fruit.
  • Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sugar over the top for a sparkle.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm for the best texture, ideally within 30 minutes. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. This recipe easily scales for multiple servings.
