Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • 8x8-inch baking dish
  • measuring spoons and cups
  • peeler and knife
  • spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup almond flour (or oat flour for nut-free)
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a small baking dish or 8x8 pan.
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well coated.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
  • In the same bowl, mix the oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, and salt.
  • Stir in melted butter or coconut oil until mixture forms coarse crumbles.
  • Sprinkle topping evenly over apples and bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and bubbling at the edges.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Delicious alone or with dairy-free ice cream.

Notes

Make it dairy free with coconut oil or vegan butter. Use oat flour for nut free version. Try Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples for best results. To crisp the topping more, chill before baking or use cold butter instead of melted fat.
