Ingredients

Cookie Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use high-quality butter for the best flavor.
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans are ideal) Experiment with other nuts like almonds or hazelnuts.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Additional for rolling powdered sugar For rolling the cookies after baking.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour, salt, and chopped nuts to the mixture, folding them in gently.
  • Use your hands to form the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are lightly golden.
  • Let them cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Final Touch

  • While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar.
  • For a festive appeal, repeat this step once the cookies have cooled completely.

Notes

Chill the dough if it's too warm to handle. Ensure cookies are roughly the same size for even baking.
