  • 2 cups almond flour Finely ground for the best texture.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sweetener of your choice (sugar, honey, or maple syrup) Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Add for extra flavor.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips or dried fruit (optional) Fold in for added sweetness and texture.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine almond flour, baking powder, salt, sweetener, and cinnamon (if using). Mix well until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. If adding chocolate chips or dried fruit, fold them in gently.
  • Using your hands, form the dough into a ball and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten the dough slightly to about 1-inch thick.
  • Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the dough into wedges, ensuring not to separate them entirely.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
  • Allow the scones to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Enjoy warm, perhaps with a drizzle of honey or a spread of your favorite jam!

Notes

Consistency is key; make sure your almond flour is finely ground. Don’t overmix to keep the scones light and fluffy. Experiment with seasonal spices for extra flavor.
