Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 large carrots Use more for bigger batches.
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil Use a halal alternative if preferred.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ teaspoon paprika Optional, for a bit of spice.
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper Optional.
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary) Optional for an herbaceous kick.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by peeling the carrots, then slice them thinly into even rounds. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 of an inch to ensure crispiness during cooking.
  • Place the carrot slices in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, paprika, and black pepper. Toss well until all slices are evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it preheat for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the seasoned carrot slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if necessary for the best results.
  • Cook the carrot chips for about 10–15 minutes. Check them halfway through, tossing the chips for even cooking and browning.
  • Once they’re a vibrant golden color and crispy to the touch, remove them from the air fryer. Allow them to cool for a few minutes.

Notes

Ensure uniformity in slice thickness for even cooking. Experiment with different seasonings to enhance the flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
