- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
- ½ cup gluten-free flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 ½ cups gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten free dinner rolls
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: ¼ cup grated parmesan
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Cut cheese sticks in half and line a tray with parchment paper.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with seasonings and optional parmesan.
- Coat each cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
- Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a second coating.
- Place coated sticks on the tray and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Heat oil to 350°F, or preheat air fryer to 390°F.
- Fry sticks for 1–2 minutes or air fry 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Drain on a paper towel and serve hot with marinara.
Notes
Freezing is essential to prevent cheese leakage. For variety, use cheddar or pepper jack. Serve with gluten free pizza rolls or chicken nuggets for a full comfort food spread.
