- 6 cups mixed apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup almond flour or gluten-free flour blend
- 1/4 cup coconut flour (optional for nut-free)
- 1/3 cup butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter a baking dish.
- Peel, core, and slice apples; toss with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- In a bowl, combine almond flour (or GF blend), coconut flour (if using), butter, and a pinch of salt. Mix until crumbly. Stir in nuts if desired.
- Spread apples evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle topping over without packing it down.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and bubbling at edges.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you like.
Notes
Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 300°F oven for 10 minutes to keep the topping crisp.
